At Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary,
We want every adoption to be a happy, safe and successful experience. Before proceeding with an adoption, we ask all potential adopters to read the information below carefully and make sure they understand and are happy to agree to our adoption terms.
1. Our Adoption Fee & Veterinary Care
Our adoption fees generally range from £150–£250, depending on the individual cat or kitten.
The adoption fee contributes towards the care provided while the animal is in our rescue. This can include:
- Veterinary examinations and health checks
- Neutering
- Vaccinations
- Microchipping
- Flea and worming treatment
- Medication where required
- Dental treatment where necessary
- Diagnostic procedures, including X-rays
- Other veterinary treatment or surgery when required
- Food and litter while the animal is in our care
As an independent, 100% self-funded rescue, Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary receives no grants or external funding. We meet the full cost of caring for the animals in our rescue.
For this reason, our adoption fees cannot be reduced or discounted.
All adoption fees are strictly non-refundable.
Every adoption fee helps us continue rescuing and caring for more cats and kittens in need.
2. Preparing Your Cat or Kitten for Adoption
Before adoption, each cat or kitten receives the veterinary care appropriate to their age, health and individual circumstances.
Where applicable, this may include vaccinations, neutering, microchipping, parasite treatment and a final veterinary health check.
Relevant veterinary information and documentation will be provided to the adopter as part of the handover.
Where Petplan insurance is included with the adoption, the adopter will receive information about the cover provided and should ensure that the policy is activated and understood.
3. Your Responsibilities After Adoption
Once the adoption has been completed and the cat or kitten has been transferred into your care, you become responsible for their ongoing welfare and veterinary needs.
This includes providing:
- A safe and suitable home
- Appropriate food and fresh water
- A clean and suitable litter area
- Appropriate enrichment and companionship
- Routine veterinary care
- Vaccinations and booster vaccinations when recommended
- Ongoing flea and worm prevention
- Any medication or treatment prescribed by a veterinary surgeon
- Neutering where this has not already been completed
- Appropriate care throughout the cat's lifetime
We strongly recommend continuing regular preventative healthcare, including flea and worming treatment, even for cats who live indoors.
We will provide information about the preventative healthcare your cat has received while in our care. Any future treatment should be discussed with your veterinary surgeon, who can recommend appropriate products for your individual cat.
4. Veterinary Care After Adoption
Although every cat or kitten receives appropriate veterinary attention before adoption, no rescue can guarantee an animal's future health or guarantee that an underlying or developing medical condition will not occur.
Moving to a new home can also be stressful, and some cats may experience temporary changes in appetite, behaviour or health during the settling-in period.
If you have any concerns about your cat's health following adoption, we recommend contacting your veterinary surgeon promptly.
All routine, ongoing, future or unforeseen veterinary treatment after adoption becomes the responsibility of the adopter.
5. If You Can No Longer Keep Your Cat
We understand that circumstances can sometimes change.
If, at any point during the cat's lifetime, you are no longer able to provide the appropriate care they need, please contact Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary immediately.
We will work with you to make appropriate arrangements for the cat's welfare.
An adopted cat must not be sold, gifted, transferred, abandoned or passed to another person or organisation for rehoming without prior written agreement from Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary.
Our priority is always to ensure that a cat previously rescued by Little Souls remains safe and receives appropriate care.
6. Adoption Suitability & Welfare
Our adoption process is designed to help us find the most suitable home for each individual cat or kitten.
We may ask questions about your household, other animals, children, working arrangements, location and the environment the cat will have access to.
We may also request photographs or a walkthrough video of the areas the cat will have access to.
These checks are not intended to make the process difficult. They help us understand whether a particular home is suitable for the individual cat and their needs.
Our responsibility is to the welfare of the cat first.
For this reason, Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary reserves the right to decline an adoption enquiry where we do not believe the proposed home is suitable for that particular cat.
7. Returning an Adopted Cat
If an adoption cannot continue, the adopter must contact Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary before making alternative arrangements for the cat.
Where a return to the rescue is agreed, arrangements will be discussed based on the cat's welfare and the rescue's available capacity.
The original adoption fee remains non-refundable.
8. Photographs, Videos & Copyright
Photographs, videos and other original media created by or on behalf of Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary remain the property and copyright of the rescue unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Our rescue may use photographs and videos taken during the cat's time in our care for rescue, fundraising, educational and promotional purposes.
Any restrictions relating to specific photographs or media will be discussed with the relevant person where appropriate.
Please do not reproduce, commercially use or substantially alter Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary's original photographs, graphics or written content without prior written permission.
9. Adoption Agreement
By proceeding with an adoption, the adopter confirms that they:
- Have provided accurate information during the adoption process
- Have read and understood these Adoption Information & Terms
- Agree to provide appropriate lifelong care
- Agree to meet the cat's ongoing welfare and veterinary needs
- Agree to contact Little Souls Rescue & Sanctuary if they can no longer care for the cat
- Understand that the adoption fee is non-refundable
- Understand that future veterinary costs are the responsibility of the adopter
We ask every adopter to remember that adoption is a lifelong commitment.
Our hope is that every cat leaving Little Souls will have found not simply a new home, but a loving and permanent family.
Our Promise
We may be an independent, self-funded rescue, but our commitment to the animals in our care is at the heart of everything we do.
We will always do our best to provide honest information about each cat, support them through their time with us and help them find a safe and loving forever home.
Every little soul matters. Every cat deserves to feel safe, loved and valued.
